The first thing people notice about Gennady "GGG" Golovkin from Kazakhstan is his amicable smile. Out of the ring the Kazakh boxer is friendly, fun and great with his fans. But little do people know about Golovkin in the ring. The only people who know what "GGG" is like when fighting are his opponents who have felt the strength of his punches. After the TKO of Osumanu Adama, ESPN and many other sport commentators have called Golovkin the Tyson of the middleweight category.

Like Mike Tyson in 1980, Golovkin was KOing his opponents throughout 2013. His sparring partner Lamar Russo agrees with the comparison.

In January 2013, GGG TKOed Gabriel Rosado in the 7th round. In March 2013, Nobuhiro Ishida hit the canvas in the third round adding one more KO to Golovkin’s record. Three month later, the Kazakh boxer repeated his KO in the 3rd round defeating Matthew Macklin. Curtis Stevens was building up much controversy prior to fight, but certainly was not ready to go down right in the 2nd round. Golovkin won with RTD (Referee Technical Decision) announced in the 8th round.

His next fight is taking place on April 26 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Danial Geale from Australia, Andy Lee from Ireland and James Kirkland from the United States are among the candidate to fight Golovkin next.
