Kazakhstani children bring 8 medals from Asian chess championship

9-year-old Amina Kairbekova has won the first place at the Asian Championship among school children, which was held in Singapore. Chairman of the Kazakh National Union of Chess Players Almaz Zhansagimov shared the news with Tengrinews.

"The Asian championship in chess among schoolchildren in Singapore finished with an excellent result for our team. Amina Kairbekova&rsquos performance was the brightest highlight. She won the world championship in blitz. Having shown her sporty character, the nine-year old student of the National Union of Chess Players won 9 out of 9 possible points and took the first place in the competition with classical time control, thereby becoming the absolute champion of Asia in her age group," Zhansagimov said.

Players at the Asian Chess Championship in Singapore were separated into age categories. In the general classification, the team from Kazakhstan won eight medals and got the fourth place. Kazakhstani players are bringing home two bronze, two silver and four gold medals.

The bronze was won by Kazybek Nogerbek (under the age of 11) and Asel Serikbai (under the age of 13). Silvers were captured by Kazybek Nogerbek (under the age of 11) and Aibek Katenov (under the age of 13). Gold medals will were brought home by Amina Kayirbekova &ndash two medals (under the age 9), Nazerke Nurgali (under the age 11) and Asel Serikbai (under the age 13).
