Kazakhstani boxer win 6 gold medals at Asian Games

Kazakhstani boxers won six gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the Asian Games in Incheon, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.


Kazakhstani boxers won six gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the Asian Games in Incheon, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

Birzhan Zhakipov from Kazakhstan took the silver in the light flyweight weight category (46-49 kg) after being defeated in the final bout a South Korean boxer Jonghun Shin.

A flyweight boxer from Kazakhstan Ilyas Suleimenov won his gold after beating his opponent from Uzbekistan Shakhobidin Zoirov.

Kairat Yeraliev brought the bronze medal in the bantamweight category (-60kg). The Kazakhstani boxer lost to Sangmyeong Ham from South Korea 0:3.

The captain of the Kazakhstan team and the World Champion Daniyar Yeleussinov won the gold medal in his welterweight category (-69 kg). Yeleussinov defeated an Uzbek boxer Israil Madrimov in the final bout effortlessly. The captain won his fights with the escort of 3:0.

A middleweight boxer from Kazakhstan Zhanibek Alimkhanuly took his gold after winning against Odai Riyad Adel Alhindawi from Jordan.

The World Champion in light heavy weight Adilbek Niyazymbetov from Kazakhstan also won a gold medal in the Asian Games. Fans’ favorite Niyazymbetov won Hyeongkyu Kim from South Korea 2:1.

Anton Pinchuk brought the gold medal in the heavyweight category (-91 kg). Pinchuk fought against Iranian Ali Mazaheri and defeated his opponent with the score of 3:0.

Last but not least, Ivan Dychko made his victorious return and won the gold in the super heavyweight (+91 kg). In 2013, Dychko hit the canvas in the final bout of the AIBA World Championship. At the Asian Games, the super heavyweight KOed his first opponent from Mongolia Enkhbayar Batmunkh and won by points over Kumar Satish from India and Jasem Delavari from Iran.

Suleimenov, along with Zhakypov, Niyazymbetov and Pinchuk will also be competing at AIBA Pro Boxing this year for a chance to represent Kazakhstan at the Rio Olympics.

This victorious performance of the Kazakhstani boxers brought the national team the first place in boxing. Kazakhstan has 80 medals total – 27 gold, 21 silver and 32 bronze. Kazakhstan is fourth in the overall standings of the Asian Games.
