KTZ women's team wins USIC International Alpine Skiing Championship in Almaty

Skiers from Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), Kazakhstan's national railway operator, have become winners of the 19th International Alpine Skiing Championship among railway employees (USIC) held at Shymbulak mountain resort in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. Teams from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Belgium, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan participated in the International Alpine Skiing Championship of the International Railways Sports Association (USIC), held under the aegis of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy from February 24 to March 1, 2014. Kazakhstan's women's skiing team won the first place at the competition. France took the 2nd place and the 3rd place went to the Czech Republic. Swiss men's team became the winner of the championship among men, followed by Kazakhstan in the 2nd place and Italy in the 3rd place. The 19th International Alpine Skiing Championship is the first USIC event hosted by Kazakhstan's national railway operator. According to the athletes, coaches and managers of USIC, the 19th Alpine Skiing Championship was well organized and became a bright page in the history of the international sport campaign on the railroad; it also strengthened international professional solidarity among railway employees. USIC is an international umbrella organization for national railway associations. It organizes international sports events and expressly supports humane sporting. The organization currently includes 25 national associations from almost the entire Europe as well as India, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Kazakhstan joined the USIC in 2010.
