I will eat my socks if Chinshanlo goes to China: Aleksey Ni

Senior coach of Kazakhstan national weightlifting team Aleksey Ni has commented on the rumors that weightlifting gold-winner of London Olympics-2012 Zulfiya Chinshanlo from Kazakhstan is moving to China, Megapolis writes.

On November 2 the weightlifter accompanied her personal coach Viktor Ni and a senior coach Aleksey Ni at a recent Kazakhstan judo championship in Taldykorgan. That’s when the senior coach once again called the information spread by Chinese party a “Peking Duck”. In his opinion, it was done purposefully to break the sportswoman’s will to win the next Olympics.

“Chinese understand that it will be very difficult for their weightlifters to compete with Zulfiya and are already trying to take the wind out of her sails. I told Chinshanlo straight away: don't read anything they write about you on the Internet. But she keeps reading and crying. At some point I even stopped answering the phone. I would come in the morning and see that I had 86 missed calls. One guy stunned me. He called and started picking on me. So I said: “I will eat my socks if Chinshanlo moves to China!” He laughed: “I would love to see that,” he said. Then I added: “But if she stays in Kazakhstan, you will eat yours. Agreed?” He went silent,” Ni said.

Chinese media earlier wrote that the weightlifter received her Chinese ID in the Public Security Department of Changsha city on October 22 and was going to perform as a member of Chinese national team, as her 5-year contract with Kazakhstan allegedly expired.

Having returned from China to Kazakhstan, Chinshanlo stated that everything written about her in Chinese media was not true and even showed her Kazakhstan passport. Kazakhstan Agency for Sports and Physical Culture confirmed the information on Chinshanlo’s citizenship.

Chinese media also stated that China was going to insist on return of Kazakhstan champion and had sent a couple of official letters to Kazakhstan but got no replies. Deputy head of the weightlifting team of Hunan province Chzhou Zun Fu said that the issue would be resolved via diplomatic channels, if Kazakhstan did not let Chinshanlo go. However, Kazakhstan Weightlifting Federation stated that it did not receive any letter from China.
