The WBA Super, IBO and WBC Interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin has arrived with his team in Monte Carlo, Monaco. At the Salle des Etoiles, Golovkin, 32, will face a British boxer Martin Murray, 32 on February 21, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
With only a couple days left before the actual fight, Golovkin and Murray will conduct a press conference for the media. The official weight in is scheduled to February 20. The Golovkin-Murray fight will be broadcasted from February 21 to 22.
The upcoming fight will be the 32nd time in the professional ring for both Golovkin and Murray. The undefeated Triple G from Kazakhstan has had 28 fights KOs, while Murray has had 29 fights, 12 KOs, a loss and a draw.
Russian bookmakers believe Golovkin is ten time more likely to win than Murray.
It will be Golovkin’s third time in Monte Carlo. He previously faced a former World Champion Nobuhiro Ishida there and defeated the Japanese in the third round with a KO. The following year, Golovkin KOed Osumanu Adama from Ghana in the 7th round and defended his middleweight titles.
“This is going to be a war and I am willing to do anything it takes,” Murray told the promoter Rodney Berman, Boxingscene.com reports.
Murray is expected to arrive on the day of weight in to Monaco from France. The British fighter was training in Johannesburg. According to his promoter, Murray does not show any signs of being intimidated by Golovkin’s record and is more than ready to face the Kazakhstani undefeated champion.
