Four Kazakhstani crews to race Dakar 2015

Four crews from Kazakhstan are racing the prestigious Dakar Rally in 2015: three SUVs and one truck, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

The marathon has accepted 406 participants this year: 161 motorcycles, 45 quads, 137 SUVs and 63 trucks. All of them have passed the technical and administrative checks.

Dakar rally raid will be held on the roads of Argentina, Chile and Bolivia this year. It has started on 4 January and will finish in two weeks, on 17th January.

The Dakar Rally is an annual endurance race, where competitors have to traverse tough sections that are off-road, with mud, dunes, rocks, etc. Organized by the Amaury Sport Organisation, the race welcomes both professional and amateur racers.

At the previous 35th Dakar, two crews of Astana Motorsports made it to the Top-20. These were the car crew consisting of pilot Aydin Rakhimbayev and navigator Vladimir Demyanenko, who finished 17th in the general classification, and the truck crew consisting of pilot - bronze winner of The Dakar 2012 - Artur Ardavichus, navigator Alexei Nikizhev and mechanic Radim Kaplanek, who made it to the 14th place in the overall standing.
