Kazakhstan national football team has lost to Ireland in its last qualifying match of the World Cup 2014, Vesti.kz reports.

The match between the national teams of Kazakhstan and Ireland took place on October 15 in Dublin, Ireland ended with the score of 3:1 in favor of the host team. Defender of FC Irtysh Dmitry Shomko was the only Kazakhstan football player who managed to score goals during the match, which made him both a hero and a disgrace for Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan's Shomko scored in the Irish woodwork in the 13th minute. Then Irish footballers Robbie Keane and John O'Shea landed two goals into the Kazakhstan woodwork. And then Shomko scored again, but into his own gates, handing the third point to his rival's team.

Kazakhstan completed the World Cup qualifying round in the 5th place in the Group C with 5 points. Both Irish and Kazakhstan teams had already lost their tournament motivation before the match in Dublin. And Kazakhstan could have advance in its position even if it won the game.

The final points of the Group C qualifying round:
1. Germany - 28
2. Sweden - 20
3. Austria - 17
4. Republic of Ireland - 14
5. Kazakhstan - 5
6. Faroe Islands - 1

This was the last match that the Kazakhstan national team played under the leadership of its Czech chief coach Miroslav Beranek. He started working with the team in January 2011.

Vesti.kz names Shakhter's coach Viktor Kumykov, Kairat's Vladimir Vaiss, Talgat Baisufinov of Irtysh football club and the chief coach of Ordabasy FC Viktor Pasulko the most likely candidates to replace Beranek as the head coach of the Kazakhstan national team.
