Kazakhstan’s figure skater Denis Ten was ranked 12th in Four Continents Figure Skating Championship that was held in the Japan's city of Osaka, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the official website of the International Skating Union.

Ten was ranked 7th after the short program. The 19-y.o. figure skater scored 78.05 points and was 9.6 point behind the leader Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu. The Kazakhstan skater returned to the ice after his injury that he got in the end of last year.

Denis Ten, coached by Frank Carroll, made a number of big mistakes and scored 197.26 points after both his short and his free skating programs.

Canada’s Kevin Reynolds scored 250.55 points and won the gold medal of the Championship, Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu (246.38 points) was second and China’s Han Yan (235.22 points) got the bronze medal.

Another Kazakhstan figure skater Abzal Rakhimgaliyev was ranked 15th after the short program. Abzal Rakhimgaliyev successfully performed his free skating program and retained his 15th place.

The Four Continents Figure Skating Championships (4CC) is an annual figure skating competition. The International Skating Union established it in 1999 to provide skaters representing non-European countries with a similar competition to the much older European Figure Skating Championships. The event's name refers to Africa, the Americas, Asia and Oceania (four of the continents represented in the Olympic rings, omitting Europe). Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dancing.
