Diyas (KAZ) to compete in ITF Wenshan semi-final

On April 1 Kazakhstani tennis player Zarina Diyas made it into the semi-final of the ITF Wenshan in China, according to the International Tennis Federation’s official website.

In the April 2 semifinal Diyas is set against Ani Mijacika from Croatia who defeated Britain’s Laura Robson 4-1 in the quarter-final.

To reach the semifinal Diyas beat Japanese Kumiko Iijima 6:0, 6:0 in two sets in the quarter-final. It was her second recent victory over the opponent following the victory in the ITF Kunming tournament.

Diyas from Kazakhstan qualified for the semi-final of the tournament in China owing to the victory over Korean So-Jung Kim.

Iryna Bremind from France and Mandy Minella from Luxemburg are also going to compete in the semi-final.

The ITF Wenshan is part of the IFT Women’s Circuit that is the second tier tour for women's professional tennis, a tier below the WTA Tour. The ITF Wenshan prize money is $50,000.

Zarina Diyas, 17, is a professional Kazakhstani tennis player. Her highest WTA singles ranking is 194. Despite her young age, she has already had some success on the WTA Tour.
