Cycling: Wasp bites Astana leader during Vuelta race

A wasp bit the leader of Kazakhstan's cycling team Astana Vincenzo Nibali in Spain, Vesti.kz reports citing the General Manager of Presidential professional sport club Astana and PR-Director Samruk-Kazyna Aidar Makhmetov.

According to Makhmetov’s post in Twitter, the incident happened on September 3 during the 10th stage of the prestigious super cycling marathon Vuelta of Spain.

This, however did not prevent Nibali from regained his leadership in the general ranking of the marathon after the 11th stage, the portal reports.

"I'm just going to defend the lead day by day, not thinking too far ahead. There are still five really big mountain stages to come," Nibali said after the 11th stage.

He completed the 11th stage of the Vuelta race in the 4th place. Swiss rider Fabian Cancellara won the stage, German Tony Martin finished the distance in the 2d place and Italian Domenico Pozzovivo was the 3d.
