Marathon registration center opens in Almaty

The marathon registration center has opened in Almaty and has already started giving out runner numbers for the Almaty Marathon, Tengrinews reports citing the marathon organizers. The center is located in Mega mall on the 2nd floor near the food-court. Mega mall is located at 247/A Rozybakiyev Str. not far from the crossing with Al Farabi Str. Everyone who wants to be a part of the event can register and collect their runner number for the Almaty charity marathon. The minimal participation fee makes 1500 tenge ($8). Since it is a charity marathon donations are very welcome. The center is open form 10:00 a.m. until 08:00 p.m. Astana time every day. The registration will be available until April 10, 2014. The runner packages will be available for collection until April 13, 2014. To become a registered runner one has to pay the entry fee and collect the runner package that includes an individual number, marathon guidelines and the route of the selected distance. Running without a prior registration will also be possible, but the results of such runners will not be registered. The available distances are 10km, 21km and 42km, and there also a 3 km route for children. Water will be available every 2.5 km. "Every runner number has an Dutch MyLaps electronic chip that meets the international standards. The system is going to be tracking the runners during the whole marathon and they won't have to interrupt for checkpoints," the organizers explain. Residents and guests of Almaty city who wish to register for the marathon need to bring a copy of their ID and a filled in health form that can be downloaded from the marathon official website . Volunteers and employees of the registration center will be providing assistance during the registration procedure. The Almaty's marathon will take place on April 20, 2014. All the money raised during the marathon will be donated to the Children Oncology and Surgery Research Institute.
