22-y.o. athlete becomes Miss Almaty-201420 november 2014, 12:26
22-year-old Regina Vandysheva has become Miss Almaty-2014, Tengrinews reports.
Miss Almaty-2013 Aigerim Kozhakhan handed the crown to her successor who is a master of sport in athletics and prizewinner of Kazakhstan’s athletics championships. Apart from the title of Miss Almaty-2014, the Almaty beauty was awarded the right to represent Almaty at the nationwide Miss Kazakhstan beauty pageant that would take place on November 28 in Almaty.
First Vice Miss Almaty Gulmira Abeldinova, Second Vice Miss Almaty Aisalkyn Kydyrbek and Third Vice Miss Almaty Laura Abdramanova will also compete for the Miss Kazakhstan crown.
This year, the organizers of the Miss Almaty-2014 beauty pageant made a decision to change the rules to make it harder to enter the final to improve the selection process. The reason behind the organizers' decision was that many representatives of Almaty ended up winning Miss Kazakhstan titles and went on to represent Kazakhstan abroad, and this drove the responsibility of the winners up.
Therefore, now, the contest is being held in two stages: the qualifying round final and the Grand Finale.
In September, six participants of the final of the qualifying round were chosen to compete for Miss Almaty-2014 title. Since the registration for the contest lasted till September 30, ten more girls were selected.
At the contest, the participants had four tasks: presentation, defile in national dresses, defile in evening gowns from general sponsor and contest of talents.
Besides, the girls demonstrated their cooking skills in a cooking competition that was held as part of the beauty contest first time ever. Miss Almaty-2014 Regina Vandysheva won the cooking contest.
“More than 200 girls applied for the contest. This year the rules had changed and the participants could submit their applications via the Internet. After a thorough selection and interviewing the applicants we chose a Top 20 for Grand Final,” director of Miss Almaty beauty contest Sovet Seitov said.
The jury panel included Kazakh actor Maksim Akbarov, Kazakh popular singer Luina, Kazakh violin player Zhamilya Serkebayeva, director of Miss Almaty beauty contest Sovet Seitov and stylist of Miss Kazakhstan and Miss Almaty beauty contests Ainur Ryspekova.
