Obstetric bed inventor won Kazakhstan state innovations contest

Doctor Marat Suleimenov, inventor of a Kazakhstan version of obstetric bed, won NIF50 state innovations contest, Tengrinews.kz reports. "Marat Suleimenov with his project of Modular Obstetric Bed won NIF50$K (the contest of innovative business-plans). This is a social project. If we take care of the future of our country, we have to start from maternity hospitals. He is a obstetrician-gynaecologist and is very interested in this area of work," deputy chairman of the National Agency for Technological Development Anuarbek Sultangazin said. "Obstetrical beds that I'm offering will be safe and comfortable for childbirth and will save the country's budget by 30-40 percent (by replacing expensive foreign beds in Kaakhstan hospitals)," the contest's winner said. "Every country - Finland, Germany, Italy, Turkey - make their own obstetrical beds. Our Kazakhstan-made beds will be similar but different from them. There are equipped with special built-in small beds for newborns and there is a seat for an obstetrician-gynaecologist. They are very comfortable for delivering a baby," Suleimenov said. Marat Suleimenov received 7.5 million tenge ($50 thousand) for his invention. The second prize was awarded to Sagat Mukhamedin from Kokshetau. He received the award of 2.5 million tenge ($16,700). "He suggested a technology for cleaning pipes of industrial heat-exchange units from hard deposits," Sultangazin said. The third prize of 1 million tenge ($6,700) were awarded to Adel Nyssanov and Sabyr Mukhambetov from Kostanay for multimedia educational system for preteens. This educational computer system is also useful for children with disabilities. The innovative bus started cruising all over Kazakhstan in search for inventors in August 2012 as part of the State Contest of Innovative Business-Plans NIF50$K. The contest was established in 2005.
