Kazakhstan biologists find replacement for chemical fertilizers

Kazakhstan scientists are developing biological products based on soil microorganisms stimulating growth of plants, Tengrinews.kz reports citing professor of biotechnologies department of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Togzhan Mukasheva. According to her, the product increases plants growth approximately by 30 percent. This happens thanks to action of microorganisms with high metabolic activity. They improve the soil’s fertility and retain the sufficient amount of air, water and chemicals like nitrogen and phosphor. The product also suppresses pathogenic flora and prevents formation of toxic fungous compounds. Use of the technology in agriculture would allow to reduce use of chemical and mineral fertilizers. Pesticides and other stimulators used in crop growing also increase soil’s fertility but have a range of disadvantages. In particular, these fertilizers pollute the soil and the plant grown it with chemicals have less nutrient matters. Earlier it was reported that nano-technologies would be used in Kazakhstan’s crop growing. The new methods of growing vegetables and grains is expected to increase harvest of the goods 5-fold. The technology is based on injection of nano particles containing microelements as iron, manganese, molybdenum and others. By Dmitriy Khegai
