Kazakhstan and Belarus might unite their remote Earth-sensing satellites and use their data jointly, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing deputy chairman of Kazakhstan Space Agency Meirbek Moldabekov as saying at the meeting of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries on cooperation in space sector.

“The launch of Belarus remote Earth-sensing spacecraft is scheduled for the nearest time. Kazakhstan is also planning to launch two satelliltes in 2013-2014. Joint use of these satellites in one group might have a good effect both for Belarus and Kazakhstan,” Moldabekov said.

According to Moldabekov, space technologies “are becoming a tool for solving economic tasks,” that is why Kazakhstan has an objective to create space industry.

The meeting on cooperation in space sector started in Minsk on June 23, Minsk-Novosti reports. The meeting is focused on ways of using the information generated by remote Earth-sensing satellites for the benefit of the CIS countries. The meeting will last for two days.
