A graduate of Karaganda Technical Univesity Semyon Bolotnik suggests to connect two major Kazakhstan cities by a "green" railroad with high-speed train. According to the inventor, his project will make it possible to get from Almaty to Astana in 2,5 hours only, Novyi Vestnik-Karaganda writes. Berkut, a new high-speed train, will reach the speed of up to 514km/h. The train of eight double-decker wagons will be able to carry 1,056 people. The new train differs from the existing ones not only by its speed, but only by its ecology-friendly power supply, the author states. The plan is that the high-speed train will work of solar panels and wind generators located along the train's way. Right now Berkut exists only on paper and is clearly shown in a demo-video. However, Semyon Bolotnik hopes that President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will take interest in his project. The architect wants to meet with Nursultan Nazarbayev and make a presentation of his invention in person. Karaganda citizen is confident of his success, especially since Kazakhstan is competing for a right to host EXPO-2017 in Astana. The energy of the future will be the subject of the global fair. Besides, Bolotnik has another ambitious project: a roofed stadium with a capacity of 30-50 thousand people. The stadium looks like a yurt (round nomad's house) from above. According to the architect, construction of the arena will cost around $500 million.
