Construction of anode plant in Kazakhstan will be completed in 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Aleksandr Mashkevich. Shareholder of the Eurasian National Resources Corporation (ENRC) told about the projects funded by the company during the sitting of Foreign Investors Council on May 18. “This year several projects with the total cost of $2 billion were launched at the sites of Sokolovsko-Sarbaiskoye mining production association. The projects are aimed at further transfer to more advanced processing. One of the projects involves construction of the plant for production of hot-briquetted iron on Midrex technology. Construction of the anodes producing plant is scheduled to be completed by 2012. It will allow to 100% supply the aluminum production chain with its base material, and will help increase Kazakh content in production of aluminum goods,” Mashkevich said. He also said that Kazakhstan is planning to launch high-carbon ferrochrome producing plant in 2013. “The production facility will be equipped with high-capacity modern furnaces; it will be equiped with a power plant generating electricity using the recovered ferroalloy gas. Full recycling of waste will be ensured to minimized atmospheric pollution,” Aleksandr Mashkevich said. By Assel Satayeva
