Absattar Derbissali called Kazakhstan women to abstain from wearing hijabs, Tengrinews.kz reports.

“Concerning our country's girls, women: Kazakhs have beautiful national clothes, but it is not hijab. We should not wear Afghanistan's national clothes. Our people, our women have to dress according to traditions of our ethnicity,” the Supreme Mufti said at the first forum of religious experts of Kazakhstan in Astana on November 16.

Derbissali said that the Spiritual Management of Muslims of Kazakhstan had been weigthing this issue for a long time and had even held a contest for designers to create Islamic clothes for women and finally decided to call Kazakhstan women to not wear hijabs.

“This is the right time to educate our young people in our country, not abroad,” Absattar Derbissali said. According to him, some students studying abroad, get entangled into radical trends of Islam, including Salafiyyah.

“Kazakhstan people have always given a priorities to education and science and we cannot say that Kazakhstan people are promoting inter-religious conflicts, but many a good father has but a bad son,” Kazakhstan's Supreme Mufti said.
