Queen Elizabeth II has received Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev during his official visit to the United Kingdom on November 3, Tengrinews reports citing Akorda press office. The reception at the Buckingham Palace included an honor guard.

During the meeting, Nazarbayev updated the Queen on the results of his visit and a large number of agreements inked between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.

Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the relations with the UK and this is manifested through strong partnership ties not only at the high level, but also between business and intellectual circles and governments of the two countries, Nazarbayev said.

The two sides also discussed the role of the British capitals in the modernization of Kazakhstan's economy. Indeed, Britain is one of three largest investors that over the last ten years has invested over $11 billion into Kazakhstan's economy. Around 500 British companies are working in Kazakhstan.

The Queen, in turn, spoke highly of the results of the Kazakh leader’s visit and expressed confidence that it would contribute to further strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries and prosperity of the people of Kazakhstan and the UK.

Earlier that day, Nazarbayev also had a meeting with British PM David Cameron, during which the two leaders dwelt on key areas of Kazakh-British cooperation.

Cameron’s visit to Kazakhstan in 2013 boosted bilateral relations between the two nations, Nazarbayev said.

Nazarbayev also marked the successful negotiations between the governments of Kazakhstan and the UK, resulting in signing of a number of crucial documents.

Nazarbayev congratulated Cameron on his victory in the recent parliamentary elections and successful formation of a coalition government. “I would like to point out the achievements that your country has made in such difficult times. The busy agenda of my visit demonstrates the high level of our relations,” Nazarbayev said.

David Cameron, in turn, said that Kazakhstan made an incredible success in terms of attraction of investments, development of industry and trade. He also noted that Kazakhstan and Britain had a wide range of topics to discuss and expressed his intention to discuss the implementation of reforms put forth by Nursultan Nazarbayev.

One of the important results of the meeting was the signing of a number of crucial bilateral documents on mutual legal assistance, a memorandum of understanding between Kazakhstan’s Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Fighting Corruption and the UK Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Besides, Britain officially confirmed its participation in the EXPO-2017 to be held in Kazakhstan's capital Astana by signing a relevant agreement. "Today Britain confirmed its participation (in EXPO-2017) and we are very thankful. We will establish an international financial center on the basis of EXPO, which will be regulated based on the Bitish law and experience of London and Dubai. Participation of your companies is very important. We have put forward a new investment program and alloted funds from the National Fund for this purpose. I am thankful to all the international financial institutions that provided $9 billion. Over three years, we will build 7,000 kilometers of roads, dozens of bridges, new airports, new sea ports at the Caspian Sea and will diversify our entire economy. I invite you to visit Kazakhstan. We are not asking for anything, just come to Kazakhstan, build your business and make your money together with us," Nazarbayev addressed representatives of British business and governmental circles at the Kazakh-British forum later that day.
