President Nazarbayev meets his South Korean counterpart in Astana

Kazakhstan’s president Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with South Korea’s president Park Geun-hye in Astana, Tengrinews correspondent report.

Nazarbayev addressed the South Korean partners: “Our cooperation has reached a certainly high level. Our collaboration in the сar industry, energy, healthcare, education is on a high level. The trade turnover has reached $1.5 billion. As a result of your visit we will be able to raise our cooperation to a new level in both the economy and politics. We strongly support your country's policies to oppose North Korea's possessing nuclear weapons and the reunification of the Korean peninsula."

The president also gave his condolences with regards to the South Korean ferry crash that took nearly 300 lives.

Park Geun-hye thanked Nazarbayev for the invitation to visit Kazakhstan. “We have friendly relations. We were able to discuss the  international situation around the North Korean nuclear problem and its implications for the Eurasian continent. I would like to thank you for you support to the initiative of establishing peace and trust on the Korean peninsula. Kazakhstan is our key partner,” the president of South Korea said.

The two presidents signed several agreements. One of them established a visa-free regime between the countries.
