Netherlands poised to become Kazakhstan's food security partner

The Netherlands is planning to become Kazakhstan's partner in ensuring food security, Netherlands Ambassador to Kazakhstan Hanz Driesser told Tengrinews.

"We are aware that Kazakhstan is going to diversify its economy, and wants to be able to provide its people with food on its own without having to import anything. Holland is the world second largest exporter of agricultural products. We can become a Kazakhstan partner in ensuring food secutiry," Driesser said. According to him, a range of agriculture delegations from Netherlands are expected to visit Kazakhstan in the nearest future.

"The cooperation process is an ongoing one: visits, delegations, important decisions, student exchanges. We are putting high hopes on young people in terms development of our cooperation. We are glad to have Kazakhstan youth come to the Netherlands and sees our technologies and knowledge. We would like Dutch students to visit Kazakhstan as well and see you new nation, new country that is being built," the Ambassador said.

Driesser added that the Netherlands was planning to deepen the cooperation with Kazakhstan in trade, investments and education. He also said that his country was interested in collaboration in natural resources and energy.

Speaking about the difficulties that Dutch companies are encountering in Kazakhstan he mentioned various limitations, lack of transparency and corruption.
