Presidents of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan will arrive to Astana on May 29, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the official representative of Kazakhstan President’s Central Communications Service Altai Abibullayev.

“A meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held by the Presidents on May 29 in Astana to discuss further integration processes. The meeting will be attended by Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko. The forum will include bilateral meetings of Kazakhstan President with Presidents of Russia and Belarus,” Abibullayev said at the briefing.

President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev and President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich are also expected to arrive to Astana on May 29 on Kazakhstan President’s invitation, he said.

“The meeting of 5 presidents will be held the same day. But the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine will not take part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council,” Abibullayev said.

According to Russian President’s assistant Yuriy Ushakov, heads of 3 countries will discuss prospects of further integration and interaction in the framework of the Customs Union and plans on forming of the Eurasian Economic Union by January 1, 2015. The Presidents will also discuss preparation of a draft agreement on creation of the Union.

Kyrgyzstan applied with a request to join the Customs Union in 2011. Ukraine is looking for the observer status in the CU.
