Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev and British Prime-Minister David Cameron has discussed the situation in Ukraine over the phone, Tengrinews reports citing the presidential press-service. The phone talks between the Kazakhstan President and the British Prime-Minister was initiated by the British side.

The two leaders agreed that the Ukrainian crisis needs a peaceful settlement via diplomatic negotiations, possibly involving international mediation. They believe that reinstatement of the fundamental principles of the international law in Ukraine could help settle the situation peacefully.

Nursultan Nazarbayev and David Cameron also exchanged opinions on other aspects of the international policies, including on the upcoming Global Nuclear Security Summit in Hague to be held on March 24-25 this year.

Besides, they discussed the current state and prospects of the Kazakh-British relations, including implementation of the agreements achieved during David Cameron's visit to Kazakhstan in 2013.

A week ago the President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan and US President Barack Obama had a telephone conversation to discuss the current situation in Ukraine, both reiterating their interest in finding a peaceful solution.

Before that Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev talked with President Vladimir Putin of Russia over the phone to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

“Being Russia's strategic partner Kazakhstan understand Russia’s stance on Ukraine and its attempts to protect the rights of ethnic minorities in Ukraine and ensure its own security,” Nazarbayev said during the talks with President Putin.
