Dmitry Medvedev held talks with Karim Massimov, Tengrinews.kz reports.

Right after the meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev Russia’s Prime-Minister Dmitry Medvedev had a meeting with his Kazakhstan counterpart Karim Massimov. Head of Russian Government stressed that Kazakhstan we the first country he visited as the new Prime-Minister and that the choice was not made by accident.

“I think that this symbolizes success of our cooperation that has been reached over the years. At the same time there are quite objective reasons why I have done so. Besides friendship and partnership between our countries, we have had significantly progressed both in bilateral relations and in the international integration in the past years. Speaking of direct results, our trade partnership grew by one third and this is related both to intensification of trade turnover in general and the integration processes between three countries of the Customs Union,” Medvedev said.

Karim Massimov welcomed his colleague in Kazakhstan and congratulated him on the appointment, as well as on forming up the new Government. The negotiations in the extended format were held after the meeting.

Kazakhstan was represented in the negotiations by Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev, head of KazAtomProm national company Vladimir Shkolnik, Minister of Agriculture Assylzhan Mamytbekov, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev, deputy Prime-Minister Kairat Kelimbetov and chairman of KAZENERGY association Timur Kulibayev.
