The Kazakh Government will be working to enhance Kazakhstan’s rankings in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report, the country’s PM Serik Akhmetov stated at the government sitting January 22.

“If we look closely at the indicators, there have been no positive changes when it comes to international trade, taxation, obtainment of permits for construction, with the latter not depending on the access to seas (…) We should take serious steps to better the situation”, the PM said.

Tengrinews.kz reported earlier that Kazakhstan had gained 7 notches in the Doing Business-2013 compiled by the World Bank. Doing Business 2013: Smarter Regulations for Small and Medium-Size Enterprises assesses regulations affecting domestic firms in 185 economies and ranks the economies in 10 areas of business regulation, such as starting a business, resolving insolvency and trading across borders. Doing Business-2013 report data cover regulations measured from June 2011 through May 2012.

The country’s Ministry for Economic Affairs plans to introduce one-window points to handle all the export and import-related operations to enhance the country’s trading across borders indicator.
