Kazakhstan welcomes elections in Ukraine31 october 2014, 19:27
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has expressed its view on the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that took place on October 26, Tengrinews reports.
“Kazakhstan welcomes the election to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that took place on October 26 this year,” the statement of the official website of the Ministry reads.
It also says that establishing a new parliament is “an important step towards a nationwide reconciliation and stability in the society which will make it possible to implement the necessary reforms in the best interests of the people of Ukraine”.
Kazakhstan and Ukraine have “friendly and partner relations based on historically developed mutual trust and understanding,” the message says.
Kazakhstan respects the choice of the Ukrainian people and assures that it will “support the efforts of Ukraine and the international community towards strengthening political stability and consolidating the society, and ensuring a progressive development of the country”.
The elections in Ukraine will lead to creation of a pro-European government with two leading parties – Yatsenuk’s People’s Front (22.17%) and Poroshenko Bloc (21.82%) – having to cut a deal. Another four parties entering the parliament are: Samopomich (Self-Help) party of Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovy (11.01%), the Opposition Block with many representatives of now disbandled pro-Yanukovich Regions Party (9.35%), Oleh Lyashko's nationalist Radical Party (7.44%) and Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party of the former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko (5.68%).
