Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a Law On ratification of the Convention concerning Equal Opportunities and Equal Treatment for Men and Women Workers: Workers with Family Responsibilities (Convention No.156), Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President's press-service.

The document states that the "Convention applies to men and women workers with responsibilities in relation to their dependent children, where such responsibilities restrict their possibilities of preparing for, entering, participating in or advancing in economic activity".

Besides, the Convention's provisions apply to men and women workers with responsibilities to their immediate family who clearly need their care or support".

The document also says that the state joining the Convention undertakes to make it a national policy to enable persons with family responsibilities who are engaged or wish to engage in employment to exercise their right to do so without being subject to discrimination and, to the extent possible, without a conflict between their employment and family responsibilities".
