Kazakhstan mulls entering International Police Association

Kazakhstan mulls entering the International Police Association. A foundation conference of Kazakhstan section of the IPA was held in Astana on July 20. It was participated by the organization’s president Michael Odysseos, Tengrinews.kz reports.

According to the Secretary General of the national public union of the International Police Association Alexander Chaus, Kazakhstan association has received an observer status in the International Police Association and next year Kazakhstan will become a candidate for entering this organization at the Global Policemen Conference in Copenhagen.

“We have been operating in Kazakhstan for two years, we have a legal status. But we still have to get the status of the member of the International Police Association. The issue of giving us an International status will be resolved today. We will then be called Kazakhstan Section of the International Police Association. That means that we will enter the police community of the world. This will give us expansion of contacts, we will have contacts not only in Kazakhstan but worldwide. We have already started taking part in all the events held by the International Police Association. That’s why our two-year work has been evaluated today. It is symbolic for our country that the president of the International Police Association has visited us,” president of the national public union of the International Police Association Marat Nurgaliyev said.

The IPA was established in Great Britain in 1950. 5 years after establishment the association received an International status in Paris. “The association’s main ambition is to stop the bloodshed and find understanding among people around the world. Our objective is to maintain this course and help the world’s police in enhancement of the relations and solving its problems,” president of the International Police Association Michael Odysseos said.
