Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a statement following the results of the Normand Talk in Minsk, Belarus, Tengrinews reports.

On February 12, the Normand Talks to resolve the crisis in the east of Ukraine was completed. The peace summit between the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France started on February 11.

The 16-hour summit resulted in a declaration that requires immediate cease-fire as of February 15, withdrawal of all heavy weapons at equal distances of at least 50 km, creation of 70 km security zone and release hostages and illegally detained individuals based on the "all for all" principle.

“Kazakhstan supports the results of the Normand Talk in Minsk between the Presidents of Ukraine, Russia, France and the German Chancellor as well as the package of measures aimed at the implementation of the Minsk agreement signed by the contact group. We highly appreciate the efforts the parties put into resolving the crisis in Ukraine by peaceful means,” the Ministry stated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan also noted the exceptionally good organization of the Minsk negotiations by Belarus.

Kazakhstan urges the parties to “implement the reached agreements aimed at immediate cease-fire in the Southeast of Ukraine and comprehensive regulation of the crisis in the country”.

The Ministry expressed hope in a possibility of a trust-based dialogue and fruitful cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union in future.
