Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov and the Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius have signed a number of bilateral agreements, Tengrinews reports.

“Today we are going to sign three agreements: on mutual protection of secret information, on cooperation (between the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan and the Financial Crime Investigation Service of Lithuania) in countering legalization of (money laundering) proceeds from crime activities and financing of terrorism, and on cooperation in the veterinary field. I think these agreements will boost the development of bilateral cooperation in the most important areas for us,” Lithuanian PM Algirdas Butkevičius said at the meeting with Karim Massimov on May 19.

He also invited the Kazakh PM to visit Lithuania. “I would like to invite you to visit Lithuania, to see our country, because as I understood from our conversation, the last time you were in Lithuania was in 2001. We are looking forward to seeing you in Lithuania, and we have a lot to talk about, both in our short-term and long-term strategic plans,” Butkevičius told Massimov.

A big delegation of Lithuanian businessmen arrived in Astana together with him, he said.

Apart from these agreements, Lithuania and Kazakhstan also inked a protocol of intent on cooperation between Kazakhstan’s city of Aktau and Lithuania’s city of Klaipėda.
