Kazakhstan CEC accredited 60 international observers for Senate elections

Kazakhstan Central Elections Commission (CEC) approved accreditation of 60 observers from international organization for elections of Senate deputies scheduled for August 19, Tengrinews.kz reports citing member of Kazakhstan CEC Tatyana Okhlopkova. Today, August 11, chairman of the CEC Kuandyk Turgankulov handed certificates of international observers to Yevgeniy Sloboda, head of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) observers’ mission and Yevgeniy Kozyak, member of the mission. 10 of 60 observers represent Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries. The number of international observers and international media accredited by the Foreign Affairs Ministry has increased, the CEC says. “Currently we have 46 candidates to the Senate registered. Candidates can be removed from registration upon their personal applications. This procedure stops two days prior to the elections,” Kuandyk Turgankulov said. The majority of registered candidates are members of Nur Otan party. Average age of potential senators is 54 years. By Assel Satayeva
