Hungary did not supply sick cows to Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Embassy of Hungary in Kazakhstan.

“Referring to the statement of Kazakhstan's information agencies and Internet websites on February 12, 2013, the Embassy o Hungary in Astana strongly denied that any Hungarian company was the supplier of the cattle from Austria to Kazakhstan. The reports of information agencies and news websites are groundless,” the embassy writes.

Earlier Kazakhstan Agriculture Minister Assylzhan Mamytbekov stated that a Hungarian supplier of the Austrian cattle will reimburse the losses to the state and the farmers.

Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that over 700 elite Simmental cows purchased in Austria would be exterminated in Poltavskoye and Leonov farms in North-Kazakhstan oblast. The reason for extermination lays in alleged Schmallenberg virus and virus diarrhea. Later Kazakhstan Agriculture Ministry accused Austrian veterinary services of negligence. Several days later Austrian party refuted the Ministry’s statement on import of sick animals.
