First Deputy Head of Kazakhstan Agency for Countering Economic and Corruption Crime Andrey Lukin had declared that the level of corruption is steadily lowering in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports.

“I can confidently say that, first of all, thanks to the President’s political will and development of the strategy for countering corruption in our country, consistent changes in the legislation to bring it to the international standards, the corruption level in our country is minimizing steadily,” Lukin said answering a question of the journalists during the seminar called Experience exchange in development and effective implementation of measures/strategies for prevention of corruption.

He noted that Kazakhstan was continuously improving its anti-corruption legislation in line with recommendations of the UN Convention against Corruption.

“In particular, the UN Convention says that we should consider introducing a criminal liability for unlawful enrichment, responsibility for offering and receiving bribes and many others things. The total of 37 recommendations have been made to Kazakhstan. They are being reviewed in the context of our legislation, plans are made and they will be, of course, implemented,” Lukin said.
