The chair of the board of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan Aigul Solovyeova is convinced that protesting oil workers are not the instigators of the unrest in Zhanaozen, Tengrinews.kz reports.

“Of course a certain number of oil workers on strike followed the unrest organizers, but they could not have plotted it. I believe that the state of emergency was rightfully introduced. Now the investigating bodies must separate the instigators from those who accidentally got drawn into the crowd. When the investigation is complete, we at the Civil Alliance are ready to facilitate addressing the issues of those on strike,” Solovyeva added.

According to the interviewee, she personally knows the leaders of protesting oil workers. Solovyeva argues that none of them intended to disrupt the celebration of the Independence Day.

“I cannot certainly say who exactly is behind that. This must be done by the investigating bodies, but the fact that this was premeditated by the outsiders is evident. The videos uploaded on the Internet demonstrate that clearly. So many buildings were burnt….those incendiary devices, all of that was arranged beforehand,” Solovyova says.

She expressed confidence that in the wider sense nothing puts Kazakhstan stability and peace in jeopardy: “The unrest in Zhanaozen is of local scale, and there is no reason to expect any further serious development. But it is a lesson for us – we should not allow for any conditions and circumstances that the outlaws can utilize to achieve their goals.”

To remind, earlier as a result of the meeting of the Security Council, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev urged to separate the employment-related conflict of oil workers and the illegal actions of the outlaws. “We will reveal where the funding comes from and who plots this,” the head of the state stressed.
