The CSTO has prepared a package plan on Afghanistan based on the analysis made during Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the CSTO, Tengrinews.kz reports citing CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha as saying at a video press-conference.

“Kazakhstan initiated the follow-up analysis of the situation in Afghanistan and based on the forecast we have prepared a package plan for humanization of the challenges that can emerge in case of deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan,” Nikolai Bordyuzha said.

He also assessed that Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the CSTO was extremely successful and helpful in reaching very serious results.

“All that was done under Kazakhstan’s leadership. I am thankful to the President and Kazakhstan’s administration for the active position that they showed in 2012,” Nikolai Bordyuzha said.

Summing up last year’s results, he said that the year was quite successful.

“The most important is that there has been relative stability in CSTO countries and no very serious negative social and political events. We believe that the situation is quite good for development of the countries in general,” Bordyuzha said.

According to him, main attention was focused on practical activities and ensuring security of the member-states.

“This included illegal drug-trafficking, illegal migration, human trafficking and information countering operations. We achieved pretty good results. Besides the operations, we made an analysis of the situation in the most complicated regions. We monitored the situation in Afghanistan and prepared a range of proposals. Steps were made to enhance the organization’s force potential,” Nikolai Bordyuzha said.
