Observers of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) mission have concluded that the Kazakhstan Senate elections complied with the country’s legislation, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports. “In general we have an impression of well-planned, consistent and organized Senate elections. I would also like to note a very good information work,” Head of the mission Sergey Lebedev said. Besides, he noted that the CIS mission came “to the conclusion that the Senate elections complied with Kazakhstan legislation, were open and public.” “On the election day our observers had an opportunity to observe all the procedures of the voters’ meetings, except, of course, the part that was happening in the booths. All this speaks for transparency and openness of the process; it was hardly possible to falsify or misinterpret anything in such conditions,” Lebedev added. Meanwhile, head of the mission expressed his opinion that Kyrgyzstan should consider adopting Kazakhstan’s experience during the preparation and process of the presidential elections. “Presidential elections will be held in Kyrgyzstan in two months, on October 30. Of course, we share the concerns of our Kyrgyz friends about the situation in country and sincerely wish them economic and political stabilization,” Lebedev said.
