Multiple assessments state that around 300 ethnic Kazakhs live in Finland, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry.

Kazakhstan Ambassador to Finland and Estonia Galymzhan Koishybayev held a meeting with representatives of Kazakh expatriate community living in Finland on October 19 in Helsinki.

“Koishybayev informed the fellow countrymen of the economic and political situation in Kazakhstan, introduced them with the country's policies towards compatriots living outside Kazakhstan and suggested holding several joint events with the Kazakh expatriate community aimed at meeting their national, cultural, spiritual and language needs,” the press-service writes.

“Representatives of the expatriate community welcomed the opening of Kazakhstan diplomatic representative office in Finland. They expressed gratitude for the attention to the fellow countrymen living outside Kazakhstan and made suggestions on further development of cultural and humanitarian relations. In particular, representatives of the community suggested to open a Kazakh national cultural union in Finland aimed for introducing Kazakh culture and teaching native language to children and young people,” the message states.
