Nazarbayeva calls parents to be more sly than children in Internet use

Majilis deputy Dariga Nazarbayeva believes that parents have to control access of their children to harmful information on the Internet, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the deputy as saying at the presentation of the draft law On children protection from information causing harm to their health and development. “I think it is important for parents to get some training on how to block certain website harming their child’s mental health,” Nazarbayeva said. She expressed concern that parents often feel no responsibility for what their children watch on TV or Internet. “The state undertakes a major part of responsibility for the young generation, but where are the parents? They are mostly concerned with having their kids fed and dressed not worse than the others kids, take them to bed in time and take them back to the kindergarten or school in the morning,” deputy said and continued about video games. “There is too much aggression. Computer games are all about killing. All these “shooters” in gaming centers: there are blood and body parts everywhere.” The presented draft law provides for checking video games. However, the details of such checks are unclear yet. Dariga Nazarbayeva said that the draft law was raw in terms of responsibilities of producers of harmful information. “We are open for discussion,” she told the journalists. By Renat Tashkinbayev
