11-year old Zhansaya Abdumalik, a four-time world chess champion will take part in Singapore Chess Tournament, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Daniyar Amirov, the chess-player's father. “Zhansaya was invited to the tournament personally by Leong Ignatius, the International Chess Federation (FIDE) general secretary. She will play against adults. She will fight for the points, that will allow her to become the youngest Grand Master in the history of chess,” Amirov said. Singapore Tournament will start on December 25. Zhansaya departed for Singapore on December 19, to have some practice with Zurab Azmaiparashvili, a Georgian Grandmaster forehand. According to the champion's father, Abdumalik will have a very tough tournament schedule for the next five months. “We have to earn three Grandmaster points to beat the record. Now Ukrainian Yekaterina Lango holds the title of the youngest Grandmaster in the world. She reached the qualifying standard when she was 12 years and 5 months old. And Zhansaya will turn 12 only in January,” Amirov said. Earlier Tengrinews.kz reported that Abdumalik gained a gold medal in Brazil Championship. She won eight games out of nine in her age group. Bibissara Assaubayeva, a 7-year old Kazakhstan chess-player became the world champion in the tournament as well. Alibek Igambergenov won a bronze medal for Kazakhstan chess national team in under 16 age group.
