Question: Andrey are you ready to face Roger Federer?
Answer: You mean tomorrow? (laughing) Of course, I preparing for each match of the Davis Cup and approach them with an attitude for victory, wanting to show the best games no matter who is on the opposite side of court and what his world rank is. That is why when we face Switzerland we will be preparing to face Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka and whoever else will be on the opposite side.
Q: Admit, you were think about revenge for Mikhail’s lost?
A: Sure, I wanted to win. I had never played decisive matches before, it was my first time. Of course, I watched Mikhail's game and waited for the outcome. I saw one set at the court and then went to the changing room to prepare for my match. Of course, I was nervous. I wanted Mikhail to win and finish the tournament, then we would have all just gone home cheerfully. But it is sport, where things we want not always happen.
Q: Did you feel pressured?
A: You know, there is always a pressure. Especially, when you are playing for your country. And it is our task to handle the pressure.
Q: Mikhail was calming the journalists down after his game by saying at the press-conference that Bemelmans was weaker than Goffin and it would be easier for you to beat him. Did you expect to beat the Belgium tennis player easily?
A: He didn't tell that to me (laughing). Certainly, David Goffin showed a high class game in those two days, and Bemelmans was not as impressive but that match took a lot of concentration too. You saw him play against Mikhail on the first day, he was good. I had an advantage because I had a rest day, while Bemelmans were playing three days straight and was a bit tired. But that didn't mean that I could just come out onto the court and be sure of my victory.
Q: Was the fans' support helpful?
A: Sure, it is one of the key factors. Mikhail feels it more than I do, but it still helps. I wish more people would attend such events and the stadiums are full. But there are more and more people company every time, we can see the trend.
