The Institute of Political Solutions made an opinion survey in September 2011 interviewing 2300 residents of 16 largest cities of Kazakhstan. Respondents were asked for their opinion about threats to internal security of Kazakhstan, manifestations of religious extrimism and effectiveness of antiterrorist security forces.
An overwelming majority of respondents (67.7%) believe that there is no threat to internal security of Kazakhstan. However, every third thinks it is there. In a similar poll in 2006 only 7% were concerned about terrorist threat in Kazakhstan. Now 31.3% are.
