Defense electronic optical devices to be produced in Astana together with Turkey

Defense electronic optical devices to be produced in Astana, Tengrinews reports citing the Defense Ministry of Kazakhstan. The Kazakh-Turkish joint plant will produce a wide range of electronic boards used in different equipment for submarines and space vehicles. The next step of the plant development is start making infra-red lenses with nano coating. Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering is the first enterprise producing such equipment in the post soviet space. According to the press-service of the Kazakhstan Defense Ministry, the share of Kazakhstan in the joint project will make 30% in the first stage and with be increased to 67% within 5 years. Adilbek Dzhaksybayev, Defense Minister of Kazakhstan, and his Turkish counterpart Ismet Yilmas unveiled the plant. The plant is being built jointly by the two countries. Both Defense Ministers inspected the location of the future manufacturing blocks and checked on the samples of the products that will be produced by the plant. The two Ministers had a meeting in the Kazakhstan Defense Ministry's headquarters to discuss the further cooperation plans. "We had very productive negotiations with my counterpart. We exchanged opinions on the ways of enhancing of the cooperation between our administrations and armed forces. I believe that strong Kazakhstan means stability and reliability for our region. And strong Kazakhstan will contribute to strengthening of peace and stability. We are ready for any cooperation with Kazakhstan to further strengthen peace and collaboration," Ismet Yilmas said at the press-briefing after the meeting. By Altynai Zhumzhumina
