More than 1 million tons of grain shipped by Kazakhstan Temir Zholy

In November Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), Kazakhstan's national railway company, has transported more than 1 million tons of newly harvested grain, Tengrinews reports.

This exceeds the shipments made in same period of last year by 423 thousand tons, 317 thousand tons out of this amount of grain was shipped to the domestic market and 713 thousand tons was exported.

The main export directions were the traditional routes: Central Asian countries (210 thousand tons), South Caucasus (135 thousand tons) and Russia (and further on to the Black Sea and Baltic Sea ports) (208 thousand tons).

64.5 thousand tons of grain was exported to Iran through the Aktau International Sea Port at the Caspian Sea. 33.6 thousand tons of grain was shipped off to Turkmenistan along the new railway from Uzen to the Turkmenistan border. 43.1 thousand tons was shipped to China and 17.5 thousand tons was exported to Afghanistan.

In addition to grain, KTZ shipped 305.5 thousand tons of flour, which exceeds last year figures by 97 thousand tons. 242.7 thousand tons of flour (80%) was exported. Uzbekistan received 145.5 thousand tons of exported Kazakhstani flour. 47.3 thousand tons were exported to Afghanistan, with the remaining 27 and 11 thousand tons shipped to Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan respectively.

From July to November 3.5 million tons of grain was shipped, out of which 2.35 million tons were exported. The flour shipment amounted to 1.1 million tons. 882 thousand tons of the flour was exported.

KTZ has been keeping the shipments stable high as the amount of grain shipment in November was the same as that in October.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is the major railway transport operator in Kazakhstan. It operates in the framework of Samruk-Kazyna National Wealth Fund and is responsible for shipment of raw materials, oil and other industrial products.
