Kazakhstan will supply 500 tons of meat to Russia by the end of 2013, Tengrinews.kz reports citing deputy chairman of KazAgro Dauren Makhazhanov. “It is our goal. We have supplied around 50 tons of meat so far. It is quite realistic to dispatch 500 tons by the end of the year. We are now in talks with Russian companies that sell agricultural goods, including those that deliver them to Moscow,” Makhazhanov said at the yesterday's briefing in the Central Communications Service. According to him, several interested companies from Moscow have already visited Kazakhstan and discussing cooperation. “They came here, had meetings and visited the feed yards. Cooperation terms are being negotiated right now,” Makhazhanov said. According to him, KazAgro is closely monitoring prices of locally-produced meat. “Looking at our frozen beefRussian entrepreneurs understand that our meat can take good positions in the premium sector of the market,” he said. Kazakhstan still hopes to become a key player at the global meat market. According to Majilis speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin, the country has everything it takes to become a leading exporter of animal products not only in the region but also around the world.
