It is suggested to pin the prices of compressed natural gas at 40 percent from the cost of traditional types of fuel (petrol) in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports.

The idea was voiced at the meeting on Almaty development attended by Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov. The suggestion to pin the gas prices was made by the city administration and the decision may come in effect as soon as January 1, 2014. Akhmetov noted that this initiative was approved by Kazakhstan government.

Almaty ecology was once again discussed at the meeting. Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov stressed that alot of work was done in Almaty to switch public transport to gas fuel. He noted that Almaty needs a set of documents that would set good rates not only for gas, but also for electric transport like trolleybuses, tramways and subway trains. The total of 10 billion tenge ($66.7 million) have been allocated from the city budget for development of the public transport in 2013.
