“Funds allocated to finance ethnic media have been increased more than 4 times since 2005, with state support to ethnic theatres growing almost 30% to reach $ 3.5 million”, Nazarbayev said.

Languages of 22 ethnic groups are taught as a separate subject at 108 schools. 88 schools teach their students in their respective mother tongue – Uzbek, Tajik, Uighur, Ukrainian. 33 schools in different regions teach subjects in three languages equally, President informed.

According to him, the government’s support to ethnic culture centers last year alone stood at $ 685 000.

Kazakhstan is recognized for its endeavors to secure inter-ethnic and interfaith peace and accord. Representatives of over 130 live peacefully in Kazakhstan.
