Kazakhstan’s PM Karim Massimov met Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Khristenko of Russia August 19 to discuss issues related to the Common Economic Space. The PM told about the talks in his Twitter account. The Common Economic Space is a project of economic integration of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. It is planned to be launched by January 1, 2012. Integration agreements will come fully into force in July 2012. The decision to launch the Common Economic Space was taken August 16, 2006 in Sochi. Last year the first stage of the project – launch of the Customs Union – was completed. Customs control at the borders between the nations was removed in July 2011, enabling free movement of goods within the Customs Union.
