Kazakhstan has started exporting its barley to Iran through the Aktau Caspian Sea port. Kazakhstan won’t be exporting wheat to Iran, Agriculture Minister Assylzhan Mamytbekov wrote in his Twitter. “Kazakhstan won’t be exporting wheat to Iran as the latter has introduced a ban on wheat imports”, the Minister elaborated. In 2010 Iran introduced ban on imports of 20 agricultural produce items, including wheat and rice. Kazakhstan may harvest up to 25 million tons of grain [in bunker weight], Evgeniy Aman, Executive Secretary of the Agriculture Ministry, told journalists September 22. “The harvest can reach 25 million tons, should the yield remain the same in all the territories under crops”, Mr. Aman said. As of today, Kazakhstan has harvested a total of 20 million tons. Harvesting is over in 77% of the area under crops.
