Kazakhstan ranked 93rd in the Global Peace Index

In 2011 Kazakhstan improved its position in the Global Peace Index and ranked 93rd, Vision of Humanity writes. Among CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries Moldova (59th) and Ukraine (69th) are ahead of Kazakhstan. Last year Kazakhstan was ranked 95th out of 149 countries and two years ago the country was 84th of 144 countries. Kazakhstan obtained top scores for low risk of terrorist acts, and a small number of victims of organized local and foreign conflicts. The lowest scores were given to Kazakhstan for the fact that the residents can easily buy or received minor caliber weapons. As per the Index, Island turned out to be the most peaceful country, the second top peaceful country is New Zealand. The third place is given to Japan. The least peaceful countries are Russia (147), Congo (148), China (149), Afghanistan (150), Sudan (151), Iraq (152) and Somalia (153). Libya was called the downfall of the year. The country dropped 83 places in the Index because of continuous conflicts and unrest. Institute for Economics and Peace assessed the countries by 23 factors, such as local and foreign conflicts, public security and etc.
